Description

The S.d.kfz. 140/1 was manufactured as a reconnaissance vehicle for the German Army from chassis battle tank 38(t) Czechoslovak used by German forces after the annexation of the country. Since the production of reconnaissance vehicle "Luchs" (linx) was scheduled to end in January 1944, plans were made ​​to find an alternative by converting the chassis of the 38(t) back to the factory for repairs. It was planned for April 1944 to convert 118. After time, 70 of these vehicles were modified and only 15 were delivered without 2cm turret. A new superstructure was mounted on the frame for receiving the Hängelafette 2cm turret utlise on Sd.Kfz 250/9, 251/23 and 234/1. They saw service in April 1944 on the two fronts, east and west.
