The Sd.Kfz. 250 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 250) was a light armored half-track vehicle used by the Wehrmacht from 1940 to 1945.
Resembling the Sd.Kfz. 251, it had four sets of wheels in contact with the ground, compared to six for the 251. It could only carry one ton of cargo compared to 3 tons for the 251 and accommodated 6 men, including the driver, as opposed to 12 for the 251.
The Sd.Kfz. 250 was primarily used by reconnaissance units and performed better off-road than the wheeled vehicles it replaced, such as the Sd.Kfz. 222 and Sd.Kfz. 231, although it was slower (10 km/h compared to 31 km/h for the Sd.Kfz 231).
It came in several versions, most of which did not have protection on the top compartment.
