The British Short S.25 Sunderland is a Maritime Hull Patrol Seaplane developed for the Royal Air Force by Short Brothers. He made his first flight on 16 October 1937 and owes his baptismal name to the town of Sunderland in northern England. It was one of the most powerful seaplanes of the Second World War and was widely used throughout the war. It was used in the fight against German submarines in the Battle of the Atlantic.
