The "PLAN Type 035 Ming Class Submarine 83517" model kit provides a meticulous reproduction of the Ming class submarine in service with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China. Based on the 1950s-era Soviet Romeo class design with some modifications, the Type 035 was China's first independently developed diesel-electric submarine. With a total of 21 submarines built since the early 1970s, the latest variant, Type 035G, is characterized by an improved fire control system and a significantly reduced acoustic signature.
