STURMGESCHÜTZ III AUSF D (SdKfz 142) IN NORTH AFRICA AT THE END OF 1942

Description

In early 1941, two new model of the StuG III introduced. There are StuG III Ausf C and Ausf D. There is no external difference between the two types. Ausf C and Ausf D re-designed supertructure which eliminated the front aperture for the gunner’s sight. Only three StuG D served in north Africa with Sonder Verband 288. This was a tropicalised vehicle with additional air in takes cut into the rear deck access hatches that were covered by armour cowls. (Scale : 1/35e)
