History: The T-64BM Bulat is an upgrade of the old T-64 tanks operated by Ukraine, with over 2,200 still in service. The modernization program was unveiled in 1999, with two initially proposed variants: the T-64BM (or T-64U) and the T-64BM2. The T-64BM2 was equipped with a new automatic loader but had an inferior fire control system. Eventually, the more advanced T-64BM version was selected, and the first vehicles were delivered to Ukrainian army units in 2005. In 2014, this tank saw extensive use during the military conflict in Ukraine, but recently, all surviving T-64BM tanks have been repaired and placed in storage, favoring the aging T-64BV tanks.
