ENGLISH ELECTRIC (BAC) "LIGHTNING" F.Mk3

Description

A middle version of the "Lightning" family which introduced a new larger square-topped fin, Red Top collision-course missiles, improved radar and uprated Avon 301 engines. These modifications were first trialled on P.1B Development aircraft XG310, before being introduced onto production aircraft. F. Mk 3 (XP693) took to the air on 16 June 1962 and deliveries to the RAF followed in April 1964, equipping 23, 29, 56, 74 and 111 Sqns. (Scale : 1/72e)
