The F-84F Thunderstreak, a swept-wing jet fighter, emerged as a development from the Republic F-84G, which featured a straight wing design. Utilizing a swept-wing configuration along with a more potent jet engine significantly enhanced its performance, rivaling that of the F-86 Sabre. Initially, the F-84F encountered issues with power units, maneuverability, and corrosion. However, following the Berlin Crisis and the subsequent bolstering of NATO forces, the F-84F jets became a standard in multiple NATO air forces, including Germany and France, expanding beyond their prior use primarily by the USAF and US Guard units.
The F-84F saw its initial combat deployment during the Suez Crisis, with Turkish F-84F planes achieving the type's only air victories by intercepting Iraqi Il-28 bombers breaching Turkish airspace.
The F-84F operated both domestically and abroad in Europe and the Pacific. Our SH72395 kit offers four USAF marking schemes, featuring two flown in the US and two in the UK. Special Hobby’s F-84F kit boasts exceptional detail and provides options for two styles of canopy hoods, allowing for display in open or closed positions. Additionally, four styrene sprues offer a diverse range of underwing stores.
