Model Description:

The Douglas Skyrocket (D-558-2 or D-558-II) was a supersonic experimental aircraft powered by a rocket engine and built by the Douglas Aircraft Company for the United States Navy. Its maiden flight took place on February 4, 1948. Succeeding the D-558-I Skystreak, it was the first aircraft to surpass Mach 2.
